Coachella Day 1 @ Empire Polo Field

It is downright uncanny that a Southland heat wave is set to hit on Friday, day one of the monstrosity that has become Coachella. This is the first year that the festival has attempted a full three-day schedule, but from the looks of things, there'''s enough quality to go wrong. The gold star reunion act for the day is Jesus and Mary Chain, and headliner Björk has potential to overcome potential also-ran status with her energetic new material. The nitpick about Coachella is that most of the acts just sound better in a small, dark enclosed space, but if you bit the bullet and procured tickets, you'''ll be duly entertained. (ML)
