Antelope @ The Smell, 3/30Dischord's Antelope opened a tour with label mates Q and Not U and Black Eyes several years ago. But Dischord bands have a tendency to break up, so this time, Antelope's forced to arrive at the Smell with three non-Dischord acts. The first, Black Fiction, occasionally features a triangle, and the second (Dos) consists solely of two iconic, formerly married bass players. The third act (Silver Daggers) is a noisy, unsigned L.A. band that vows to pierce the hearts of tyrants, but that'''s just big, bold talk. So there'''s Antelope, a group too rough to fit into the generic indie rock mold but too soft to be labeled punk. Like a great bowl of porridge. Justin Moyer, formerly of El Guapo and the guitarist/vocalist of Antelope these past six years, is keeping a blog for this very tour, and if you offer him a tasty bowl of vegan beans or threaten his financial status, he just might tell the world about your efforts.
