L.A. Today: Anavan @ Pehrspace

Anavan @ Pehrspace, 4/16

It never gets dark in Alaska, which is probably why Anavan had to move from Ketchikan to Los Angeles before they felt at home pumping out their permanent midnight, electro-pep-rally jams. Imagine neverending four-on-the-floor drum action (performed by a dude in a hockey helmet), perverted bass lines somewhere in between Gang of Four and Deep Throat and silly lyrics yelped with maximum sass by 20-somethings of indeterminate sexual orientation. Put it behind Olivia Newton-John in full sweatband and spandex mode and you've got the idea. In advance of these high-energy dance freaks: Sea Org and their spooky, primitive digitalia, the robotic Xiu Xiu vibe of This Song Is A Mess But So Am I, noisy death-prog from Clan of the Cave Bear, and the solo electronica project Dommm, also rather Xiu Xiu-rific.(ER)
