La Roux, Chromeo To Release "Hot Mess" Collab

An average Chromeo fan is likely also an average La (Elly Jackson) Roux fan, so news that the two middleweight electro-poppers are collaborating makes a lot of sense. The two bands announced yesterday they’ll be releasing a reworked version of Chromeo’s Business Casual highlight “Hot Mess” on Jan. 17. According to those who have heard it, the new song sounds a lot like the old one but with a new, Elly Jackson-led chorus thrown in. Sounds good to me.

No word on whether the song will be released as a single, a free download, or part of an as-of-yet-unannounced remix compilation. A La Roux hook over a Chromeo beat sounds pretty tantalizing in concept, hopefully this won’t be the last we hear from this mixture. Listen to the original version below. [Popjustice]
