Finally this afternoon, some disturbing news out of Iran. Sources inside the State department have indicated that the country may have taken the next step past Uranium enrichment and...what? Wow, really? Oops.
Iran, Kyp Malone's (TVOTR) band that has nothing to do with the country and takes it's name from a Phillip K. Dick character, has scheduled their third LP, Dissolver for release Feb. 3 on Narnack. The press release says this album is more "hi-fi" and lyrics-based than the two previous, and if you're curious to hear what that sounds like you should pick up the 2008 EP released by the band, which contains album track "Buddy."
Track list:
I Can See the Future
Buddy
I Already Know You're Wrong
Airport '79
Baby Let's Get High One More Time Together
Digital Clock and Phone
Where I'm Going
Cape Canveral/Buddy (Reprise)
Can I Feel What
Evil Summer
I have a feeling that even if they claim otherwise, the band name Iran might have to do with Iran the country. The Muslims try to say the same thing: "Oh, the name means nothing, etc." but... At least we can say the Middle East is on everyone's mind these days.
Actually, It's got absolutely nothing to do with the country. Iran is Rick Deckard's wife in the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by PKD (the film Blade Runner was, somewhat loosely, based on this book). Knowing Kyp's work from TVOTR, when I heard he had a name called Iran, for some reason, I thought of her before I thought of the country. Nice to find out my first instinct was correct.
