KISS making first album since 1998, with no one realizing they had an album out in ‘98

i've been a big fan since '76, yes i bought every album since, and NO!!! i wil NOT be buying this new one. I find it totally insulting and embarrassing that KISS would do a new record with other people in original KISS makeup, ESPECIALLY Ace Frehleys' makeup. They can do what the hell the want in concert, but to pass this off as KISS is horrible. TAKE THE MAKEUP OFF!!!! I will save my money and buy Aces' new cd when it comes out instead. I HATE imposters, scabs and most off all, how Simmons has wrecked KISS since 2004.

Funny line about them having an album in '98. I had no idea.

Actually, 62,000 of us are looking forward to a new album from KISS. And most of those 60,000+ are aged 18-24.
KISS has fans of all ages, all over the world.

If KISS wants my money, they can get Ace and Peter back and be KISS.

You idiots who say you won't be buying the new KISS album because Ace & Peter aren't in the band must feel like complete morons with Destroyer through Unmasked in your music collections. Ace and/or Peter didn't play on those albums in their entirety...studio musicians were pulled in to do so! Bob Kulick replaced Ace, Anton Fig replaced Peter, etc., etc., etc.

Oh please.... Ace and Peter were in the band for the first 5 years of their career, albeit really good formative years... then out for 15 then back in for a very dysfunctional ( again ) 5 years where current band members actually had to re-teach them their parts. That's a total of 10 years out of KISS's 35 year history.... and as another poster already pointed out... they weren't even "there" when they were there because they were too busy doing drugs to show up for recording. KISS is and always has been Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. Tommy has been working with the band since the early 90s ( longer than Ace has been with the band ) and Eric has as well... they both deliver the tightest, most consistently powerful KISS performances possible in 2008. They gave KISS back to the fans. I am THRILLED about a new album and even MORE thrilled that Paul is in control and says they're going to do it classic 70s style "unmistakeably" ... !! that's not been done since 1978 !! This album will be HUGE... and the naysayers that have brushed them aside since 1974 will never understand what the fans know to be true. KISS is bigger than Ace or Peter... God love 'em... but they screwed themselves over... and thanks to Gene and Paul for keeping my childhood alive.

I started this at the top of the page. Get it straight: Tommy and Eric are fine in the band, but NOT in Ace and Peters' personas. Give me KISS from Lick it up right thru Revenge, but I wouldn't want to see Kulick dressed as Frehley either> will Thayer be asked to 'play like Ace' as Vincent was told? hmph. the only positive is that Stanley is producing... as for you simmons fans, Eric Carr isn't alive anymore to play his bass parts for him...and since he's so busy with other things, anything he has to do with the album will be more CRAP like his solo cd from 04. Ace sounds like the real KISS. THis is another money grab. i'll pick it up USED.

I agree!! Eric Singer was a KISS band member when he replaced Eric Carr in 91until the reunion. Tommy Thayer on the other hand is just a Ace Frehley stunt double and Gene Simmons goffer/lacky or whatever you what to call him!! I became a KISS fan 20 years ago with the Kulick/ Carr incarnation of the band. Either a orginal line up or the Revenge era band on a new disc!! If not leave it the hell alone!!

I am a die hard kiss fan and I am totally getting their new album in the summer. I became a kiss fan when I playedmy thug game and saw the last level was set in melbourne australia, and the kiss stage.

i'm going to buy it, cuz im a kiss fan but it would be cool to have ace and peter on it. oh and ACE still has his solo album coming out, if he gets his ass in gear lol

with respect to those that want the original members. i feel that you are doing an injustice to Paul and Gene. as it has been stated ACE and PETER partied themselves out of the band. and from what i have seen and heard from some videos in sounds like PETER thought he could pump out a bumch of beth like songs on his own.ACE nearly killed himself and can't tour like KISS does anymore.Paul and GENE i believe would welcome back ACE, i'm not so sure bout PETER.I will buy the album, and wish that the originals were on it. but i will enjoy it.KISS became soo big soo quickly that it really messed with the band, few go through what they went through and servive as a band.ACE has addiction issues as well as health issues.Peter ,well i guess they just didn't get along anymore. so why kill the group because of others not wanting to be together.ACE even wanted them to continue.in the end it will be the music that does the talking, as it should and always has.rock on KISS

Of course I'll buy it. We are lucky they are recording again. I've bought everything they've ever put out and I'm not stopping now just because they have new members, no disrespect to Ace and Peter.
Every incarnation of the band has been great, and this one is no different. Let's face, the day comes when the last bomb will explode for the last time, and the arenas around the world will no longer hear the that classic introduction, "You wanted the best...You got the best...The hottest band in the world...KIIISSSS!!!!" C'mon, let's enjoy it while we still can.

I laugh when people bitch about Peter and Ace not being in the band. I bitch about Bruce not being in the band because the Revenge album was the best they've done in a long while. Eric Singer is a better drummer than Peter. Tommy Thayer is a better guitar player than Ace. (Bruce is better than both of them. Just watch the Unplugged DVD for proof.) They are a better band now. As stated above, Ace and Peter can't keep up with the band anymore. Yes, they are originals. Yes, they are legends in the Kiss Nation. But when I put down my hard earned money to see them live or buy their music, I want the best that they have to offer. Right now, without Ace and Peter, Kiss is a better band.

If people knew KISStory Peter and Ace ruin their chances with being in KISS. And they ruined it themselves. I can argue all day why KISS is better without Ace and Peter. And to be a true KISS fan you have to love the music rather than makeup or lineup changes. That is the message that Paul Stanley always tried to get across. But I also love Paul Stanley. Without Paul Stanley there would be no KISS. He is just great by himself. He should come out with another solo album. So long story short Im buying the new album and Im buying 2 copies.

Harv, what is your critical evaluation that Tommy is better than Ace based on?

Now I imagine you will say: He had to teach Ace his licks for the reunion tour. So what, I say. They are Aces's licks to start with. Following that line of reasoning, since Paul played the bass line on the recording of Love Gun, that means he had to teach Gene the song, so he must be a better bassist than Gene. (One of my inspirations, BTW.)

Well, Tommy was in Black and Blue. I saw them 2X and had LPs. Not that impressive. From wikipedia:"Thayer was an all-around gofer for Simmons; sometimes making coffee, sometimes traveling the country securing hotel venues for Kiss' KISS CONVENTION tours, even painting Paul Stanley's house and cleaning Gene Simmons' gutters." Gene gave him the job because he felt he would never make it in a band.

Ok, so he ghosted on some CDs. He had to emulate Ace and Bruce. (To these ears, he is still doing so on MDD.)

He plays Ace's riffs better than Ace. Well, having seen Ace live recently, I don't think so, and two, so what? Look at youtube. There are plenty of guitarists who could do that, but they didn't WRITE the material.
