Kings of Leon to Launch Their Own Music Label Because They Are "Extraordinary Tastemakers"

· by

Independent music publisher Bug Music has announced plans to create a new record label that will be headed by Kings of Leon. Calling the band "extraordinary tastemakers" (if that taste involves trying to be U2), Bug Music CEO John Rudolph was super stoked about starting the label.

“Caleb, Jared, Matthew and Nathan are extraordinary tastemakers and constantly absorbing new sounds from all over the world,” says Bug Music CEO John Rudolph.

“The honesty in their music is what draws them to genuine artists. We are excited about developing new artists together as Bug Music continues to innovate and challenge the industry’s traditional thinking of a publisher."

I guess I'd talk more about the absurdity implied when calling Kings of Leon "tastemakers" if they weren't planning to release the latest album from the Features, a Tennessee-based Elvis Costello and New Wave-influenced band who got dicked around by Universal (the label they were signed to) after they refused to cover the Beatles for a credit card commercial.

Kings of Leon will officially announce the name of their label next week, in addition to when the Features' Some Kind of Salvation will be out via their imprint. [Music Week]

I love the Features! So glad to see the Kings will be helping them with this record!
