Kim Deal says ‘hell no’ to new Pixies albums and to leather pants

Just because the Pixies did the reunion gigs in 2004, they have no plans to head back into the studio. And why not? “I don’t want to,” Kim Deal told Rolling Stone and, she suspects, Charles “Black Francis” Thompson has no interest, either. In fact, Deal just doesn't think it’s a good idea for seminal bands to even bother trying to record new music. Citing the Rolling Stones’ new material as an example, she said:
I heard the last Rolling Stones record was good. The thing is I don't even care if it's the best thing they've ever done, I just wouldn't listen to it. And it's not anything that they're doing wrong. As a listener, I don't want to hear about it.
Reuniting to perform live, however, seems to sit a whole lot better with the now clean and sober bassist.
I enjoy doing the tours. It worked for us because we didn't have to fit into the black leather pants and do the high kicks. Because we never had black leather pants and we never did high kicks. We were overweight and ugly then and we're overweight and ugly now so it really wasn't a stretch.

Looks like fans will have to settle for new music from Deal’s other band, the Breeders, whose fourth album, Mountain Battles, drops on April 7. [Rolling Stone]
