You can say this about Kid Rock: the man knows what he likes, and isn't afraid to ruffle a few feathers. Speaking on the subject of fur, Rock had the following to say:
"My biggest extravagance is fur coats - I've got every kind of animal in my wardrobe. To throw paint on someone is just wrong. They do it to little Hollywood actresses who can't defend themselves. I'm willing the animal rights protesters to chuck red paint on me."
While it's hard to defend the wearing of pelts, how many of us who would condemn this statement are wearing leather shoes and belts, or munching on a burger for dinner? What kind of quality of life did that cow have? Hopefully, though, a PETA member who has already sworn off all animal products will take up Kid on his challenge. His music really isn't all that interesting, but I'd like to hear him debate ethics with his philosophical opposite. That's what he'd do, right? [Angry Ape]
What happens when two forces of incompetence collide?
I bet PETA turns him red.
Er, eating an hamburger and "having every kind of animal in my wardrobe" as an extravagance are two very different things.. The problem with the fur industry is that it feeds on luxury, on extravagances (my new word for 2009?), so basically animals are being killed for us to feel cooler. And that's just wrong. I do not endorse those kind of actions by PETA, but stating throwing paint at someone as wrong after priding himself in his little vanity -baby seals skin is so soft in the springtime - is so lame that for once i really hope PETA will take this serious and do something about it. I would love to see them promoting a live debate on something like myspace with Kid and other "stars" who promote the use of skin.. And in the end, we all could have a jacket made of Kid Rock's ass. Yes.
I am so glad someone is finally speaking up for those of us that are one with mother earth.
Cotton, Wool, Leather and Fur are the materials that our Planet provides us.
Stop wearing the plastic, manmade synthetics that are poisoning our earth on landfils not to mention all the crude Oil it takes to make them.
PETA doesnt have a CLUE
I'm all for saving whales, baby seals and endangered species but these people have gone over the edge. Colonel Sanders massacres chicken population. GIMMEE A BREAK!

Leaving aside PETA and their tactics, I think fur is really really nasty. I saw this video recently on youtube (look up "Chinese fur farms") where they had these people hang these animals up on hooks and they were just skinning them alive! It was so horrible I nearly vomited. They just chucked the bodies onto a pile and they were all writhing about, still alive with no skin on. Then I found out that about 80% of fur now comes from Chinese fur farms, which is why its so cheap, and they use cats and dogs too and say that its rabbit (not that rabbit makes it any better..). I wonder if Kid Rock has watched these videos?

They are just freakin animals. God put them here to for us. So what if we kill, eat, and wear them.

Leather and fur are definitely NOT eco-friendly. To stop the skin from rotting you have to use poisonous heavy metals, and the tanning of leather and fur is mostly done in third world countries with no health and safety regulations and these metals poison the workers and the surrounding water systems, if you don't believe me watch this video called 'hell for leather' from the UK Ecologist magazine: http://www.theecologist.org/pages/ecologist_media.asp?podcast_id=87
I agree that synthetic fibres are not exactly eco-friendly either but at least don't involve cruelty to animals on top.You can always buy clothes from things like organic cotton, hemp, recycled clothing etc, also some companies have started making clothes from recycled plastic bottles, like 'Patagonia'.

"And in the end, we all could have a jacket made of Kid Rock's ass. Yes."
Worst, jacket, evaarrr.
I would gladly skin and wear kid rock's hide if only to show everyone that kid rock is gone.
PETA is incompetent at what they're trying to do. They act like five year olds. And this is coming from a 10-year vegan.
