Kelly Rowland – the only non-Knowles survivor of the wreckage that is Destiny’s Child – has finally jumped ship. Rowland announced yesterday that she has split with (we’re being diplomatic; Bossip went with the harsher and probably more accurate “fired”) longtime manager Matthew Knowles, father and manager of Beyoncé. The breakup reportedly followed a fight between the two over the handling of Rowland’s career; we’ll guess that the freezing temperature in Beyoncé’s shadow may have also had something to do with it. According to Bossip, Rowland “was really upset that she's not better represented in the United States. She's a big hit in Europe, but not in America."
Today, dumper and dumpee each produced statements attesting to just how amicable their parting was. Rowland said, "Mathew Knowles has been a positive influence in my career. I have had great success under his guidance – both as a member of Destiny's Child and with my solo projects. Although we have decided to part ways professionally, the Knowles family and the entire Music World Entertainment team will always be my family."
Knowles said pretty much the same, adding, “[A]s a dad I only have love for Kelly."
