Billboard is reporting that Jive has dropped Kelis from her contract with the label.
The divorce comes on the heels of last year'''s disappointing (sales-wise, not utter-awesomeness-wise) Kelis Was Here, which endured several release date changes and went on to sell a meager 157,00 copies. The number was a far cry from the 533,000-unit showing of 2003's Tasty''a record whose sales undoubtedly were boosted by the runaway success of ubiquitous single ''"Milkshake.''"
And yet the news could have a silver lining: Entertainment Weekly reports that Kelis currently has two projects in the proverbial milkshaker: ''"an independent dance album with Cee-Lo''" and ''"a pop album helmed by songwriter Guy Chambers, who co-wrote hits like '''Angel''' for Robbie Williams.''"
