Kele From Bloc Party Goes On First Solo U.S. Tour

Been missing your dose of stylish British dance-rock? Well, fear no longer: Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke is going on tour across the United States to support his new solo album.

Kele, who has gone the Roseanne, Orpah and Ellen route by dropping his surname, started recording on his own after his band decided to take a hiatus in mid-2009. His debut record, the Boxer, is produced by Spank Rock’s XXXchange and the sets promise to be chock full of loud synths, thumping beats, catchy melodies and breathy, romantic vocals. If you’re planning on going, prepare for DayGlo Nikes and buffalo plaid as the crowd alternates between swooning and jumping up and down. (Note: this is probably a good place to meet girls.)

The Boxer is out June 22 on Glassnote.
