This week's installment of "Playing on Prefix" -- in which the Prefix staff waxes poetic about the new music we've been enjoying -- is now available on KCRW, and it's highlighting two of the electronic underground's finest acts. First up is Automelodi, the Italo disco-tinged post-punk moniker of Montreal's Xavier Paradis and one of the standout acts in Wierd Records' impressive stable. "Buanderie Jazz," one the most memorable tracks from Automelodi's self-titled LP, has gotten the remix treatment by Floridian dream-popper Sean Earl Beard, better known on the blogger circuit as Plastic Flowers. It's an indelible, instantly catchy slice of romantic synthpop that's got us aching for an early-'80s dance floor.
As usual, if you have recommendations for future Playing on Prefixes, leave us a tip in the comments section. For now, head over to KCRW to learn more about Automelodi, Plastic Flowers, and the rest of what's on KCRW's radar.
