What reads as a particularly twisted episode of primetime crime drama is actually (well, allegedly) true: former beau of pop sensation accused of murdering elderly woman before meeting his own grim demise.
Earlier today TMZ reported that Johnny Lewis, best known for his roles on Sons of Anarchy and The O.C., was discovered yesterday at the LA home he rented; the 81-year-old woman who owned the property was also found dead on the scene.
Police suspect Lewis, possibly under the influence of PCP or crystal meth, had an altercation with the woman, resulting in her death. Neighbors heard the woman--whose identity has not been released--screaming and saw a man outside attack two others with a piece of wood before climbing on to the roof. LAPD Commander Andrew Smith stated by the time officials arrived "[Lewis] had fallen or had somehow died on the driveway."
Further accounts claim the 28-year-old actor possessed "super human" strength and when he tried to break into the house it took three people to hold him back.
As for Katy Perry's connection to this case? She and Lewis dated from 2005 to 2006, prior to Perry's hit single "I Kissed a Girl" and her subsequent rise to fame.
Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy, tweeted about the incident this morning, calling Lewis "an extremely talented guy" who had "lost his way." Lewis's character on the show was killed off in the season two finale; the decision was made, according to Sutter, after the actor expressed his desire to leave the show.
Police are still investigating Lewis's death. [RadarOnline]
