The future of the music industry might be in some serious flux right now, but that won’t stop Katy Perry from jumping in with her own label. The platinum-selling songstress will attempt to bestow her Midas touch to others with an imprint that she’s designing, possibly under the umbrella of EMI/Capitol, her current home.
Perry’s own rise to stardom was particularly obstacle-strewn, from being rejected by labels to striking out with her squeaky-clean debut album. With her own yet-to-be-named label, Perry states “I’m going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success.
