Katy Perry Blows Up and Sells Out

Not that she was exactly some kind of well kept secret before now, but with her 50-city Hello Katy tour already underway, Katy Perry has taken things to another level. With the singles "Hot N Cold" and the ubiquitous "I Kissed a Girl" both going triple platinum (not that the latest single, "Thinking of You" is doing too shabbily either), Perry's debut album, One of the Boys, has surpassed the million mark in U.S. sales. And the rest of her tour, which takes her everywhere from Atlanta to Ontario and runs through May 12, is sold out.

Unfortunately, no information has thus far been made available on whether or not Perry's success has had any kind of trickle-down effect on the career of Jill Sobule, who wrote and sang her own tune of the same name as Perry's sapphic smash back in the '90s. Maybe Katy will save her an opening set someplace on her next go round.
