Katherine McPhee to sing in The House Bunny

Say what you will about American Idol, but it's as close as music gets to Darwinian natural selection. Katherine McPhee, former Idol runner-up and possesser of classic pop charm, will be coming out with a cover of the 1982 new wave hit "I Know What Boys Like" by the Waitresses. True to her roots, she'll be performing it from behind a screen, in the upcoming co-ed laden film The House Bunny.

For a film where Anna Faris goes from the Playboy Mansion to a sorority house, the quirky, silly 1982 song is surprisingly apt, and McPhee is the right kind of singer to make it work. McPhee will will also have backing support from film stars Rumer Willis and Emma Stone, who was last seen as Jonah Hill's love interest in Superbad. I'm not sure if this film is meant as a chick flick or as teenage boy wet dream material, but McPhee could fit the bill for either. [MTV]
