Karkwa Win Polaris Prize

In a sorta surprising upset, Montreal indie rock band Karkwa won the Polaris Music Prize for best Canadian album last night for its fourth album, Les Chemins de Verre. The band beat out Besnard Lakes, Owen Pallett, Caribou, Tegan and Sara, Broken Social Scene and Prefix fave Shad, among others. The Polaris Prize is voted on by a 11 member panel, which chose the French band's album as the winner. [Billboard]
