Karen O, MGMT, and German Mathematician to Guest on Flaming Lips’ Embryonic

More details regarding the Flaming Lips double LP, Embryonic, are starting to emerge, mainly news of who will be guest performing on the album. In an interview with a Swiss website, Wayne Coyne said Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is on a couple songs, and Flaming Lips devotees MGMT are on one as well.

“We have MGMT doing a song with us and we have Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs doing a couple songs with us,” said Wayne. “For the Karen O tracks, I just called her up in her hotel room and we just did it right over the telephone. It’s pretty absurd.”

Karen O over the phone is better than no Karen O, I suppose. But there’s also another featured collaborator; a “weird mathematician guy from Germany” (as Coyne put it) does a spoken-word part on the album. Coyne didn’t say who the mathematician guy is, but I wonder, really, how weird you have to be to be considered weird by Wayne Coyne.

Embryonic is allegedly due out sometime this fall. [Pitchfork]
