Kanye's delayed set results in 'Kanye Sucks' chants

Is he God's gift or does he just plain suck? He's always had both lovers and detractors, and Sunday's greatly delayed Bonnaroo set put many fans over the edge, resulting in chants of "Kanye Sucks!" and "Fuck Kanye!" He was scheduled for 2:45 a.m., but it didn't start until 4:30. Check out these responses from fans from the New York Times coverage:

We expected something ingenious – something worth waiting for. A show that would legitimately be worth the 2:45 slot – after waiting until 4:45 for it to actually begin, we needed more than he could have possibly provided. At the very least, we needed an apology, an acknowledgement of our predicament, of our sleep sacrifice, and our efforts to stay upbeat and hopeful (not all of us chanted **** Kanye, but I believe nearly all of us were all thinking it)

And this one:

Hey Kayne, Glow in The Dark doesn’t work when the sun is coming up.

 And now some love:

·Why is the NYTimes not up to the same level of reporting of the CBS crew that at least mentions that the Pearl Jam performance before Kanye went an hour longer than its alloted time. Plus the engineers had trouble configuring Kanye’s set. These two things equal an hour and forty minute delay. Why mystify the situation by not reporting what we know to have been the causes of the delay, Pearl Jam and setup problems for his elaborate rig.

i was there, and this jackass made phil lesh stop playn early so that he could have all the attention on his rediculous lame performance. no one i talked to had anything good to say about it. why would he go to bonnaroo anyway, not really his scene, but the rest of the shows rocked especially les claypool, that was amazing

I was there - really wasnt bad - kind of what i expected in a way. Got to watch the sun rise with Kanye. and everyone was bitching yet still waiting? then a good 10 thousand people were completely into it. So, honestly im sick of hearing the bitching.

I was there, and I was pissed that I missed other performers like Talib Kweli and Ghostland Observatory (luckily I wised up before missing the entire set). Whoever was communicating the expected performance time (kanye's peeps, bonnaroo or some random idiot) was deliberately misleading the audience. At 3am they told us 3:15. At 3:20 they told us 3:30, at 3:45 they told us Up Next! Kanye West!
pretty much the only negative from an otherwise great weekend.

I dig the dropout...but it's one of my pet peeves when bands don't go on as scheduled -15 min. give or take is fine. But I hate it when bands/artists wait forever to come out, as if the audience is really growing with anticipation with every passing minute. It actually takes away from the show. Just come out and play.
