When the Hype Williams-directed video for Kanye West’s “All of the Lights” appeared last week, most viewers have differing opinions on it. Some saw it as straight-up entertainment while others thought it was boring, gaudy, and a rip-off of 2009 French film Enter the Void.
But one thing we could all agree on was the video’s flashiness. Like, ridiculous levels of flashiness. We’re talking seizure-inducing shit here. And that’s no joke, either. It was removed from YouTube briefly because of a complaint from Epilepsy Action, a United Kingdom-based agency, that the video was causing people to have seizures. It’s since been placed back online, though, and it now comes with a warning that reads as follows: “WARNING: This video has been identified by Epilepsy Action to potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.”
