Kanye West: "who's winning, me or the media?"

Kanye West can’t keep out of the headlines in the build up to his new record, 808s & Heartbreak, which is due on November 24. On Friday (Nov. 14), West was arrested in the U.K. after getting into a fight with paparazzi photographers outside a club in Newcastle. The charges were dropped, but that hasn’t stopped West from penning an angry tirade on his infamous blog, which starts: “who’s winning, me or the media?”

Typing in all-caps, West complains about “the exploitation of my image” and calls for a law to be passed that “simply enforces that someone has to ask to take a photograph of you.” He also gives a rundown of his version of the events that occurred on Friday, saying: "I didn't assault him but merely putting my hand up to cover his lens. My security yelled, 'get the camera off him.’ I guess in all the commotion the camera scraped his nose."

The hip-hop star also claims that police told him his arrest was “a publicity stunt by the photographer” and encourages everyone to remember that “the paps killed Princess Diana.” It seems unlikely that West himself will meet a Diana-esque death at the hands of the paparazzi, although he does seem very keen on stressing his “ordinary guy” credentials. “I am not a celebrity,’ he claims. “I’m a normal person that’s just famous.”
