Kanye West set to make "hip-hop meets the Muppets" TV show

The puppet video for Kanye West’s “Champion” appears to have inspired the global hip-hop star to bigger and better things. A half-hour pilot for a new Comedy Central show, produced by West and rapper Rhymefest, has just been produced, and could lead to a full series in 2009. The show has a working title of Alligator Boots and is described as “hip-hop meets the Muppets.”

The details of the project are sketchy, but West hosted the pilot, and each show will feature musicians and celebrity guests who will perform on a Muppet Show-esque set. The production company backing the project, Jackhole Productions, are also responsible for the Comedy Central mirth-fest Crank Yankers. Jimmy Kimmel’s brother, Jon, who has worked on South Park, is also involved in the production. [NME]

Frankly, I think the show would be much better if it was basically Crank Yankers with Kanye reading some of his angry blog posts aloud.
