Kanye West: New Jay-Z Album Will Not Feature Auto-Tune

Could the fad for Auto-tune be over? Kanye West is one of the biggest proponents of the audio processor, but decided not to use Auto-tune while producing Jay-Z’s new album, The Blueprint³. The record is alleged to be Jay-Z’s last album for Def Jam, and will likely surface in September this year.

“Jay is in control of everything in his domain,” said West. “He’s just been working on it, and it’s gonna be amazing when he drops it. We actually removed all the songs with Auto-Tune off of his album, to make the point that this is an anti-Auto-Tune album, even though I released an album that has all Auto-Tune!”

West may have felt naked without the device, but he doesn’t seem unduly bothered by Jay-Z’s insistence on de-Auto-tuning The Blueprint³. “It doesn’t matter to me,” said West. “It’s music; it’s just sonics. I like Auto-Tune, so I do it.” The legions of people tired of digital voice manipulation just breathed a huge sigh of relief.
