It's a cliché but it's true: history repeats itself. Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West put on his stagecrashing cap and interrupted Taylor Swift as she accepted the Best Female Video Moonman for "You Belong With Me," to complain that "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time." Even if you agree with the central point of Kanye's argument (which I do, even though I immensely enjoy the Taylor Swift clip), it's pretty hard to deny the fact that it was pretty wack of Kanye to spoil a teenage girl's moment in the spotlight. Kanye himself doesn't even deny it, as he posted an apology on his blog pretty soon afterwards (it has since been removed).
Considering that he gets the meaning of the "she's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers" mixed up, the sincerity of that apology is a little bit suspect, but Beyonce's decision to let Swift finish her speech after Beyonce won Video of the Year seemed genuine enough, especially since Beyonce looked aghast when Kanye hi-jacked Swift's speech.
