Kanye West was fresh from apologizing for leaking a clip Spike Jonze helmed for him yesterday (Oct. 20) when he discovered rumors of his death had gathered pace online. Naturally, Twitter is responsible for most of the rumor mongering, and the trending topic “RIP Kanye West” remains a popular hashtag on the site.
Google was also flooded with queries about the rumor, and an inevitable denial from West’s girlfriend, Amber Rose, has followed. Rose took to Twitter in an attempt to quash the rumors by posting: "This 'RIP KanyeWest' topic is not funny and its NOT TRUE! He has people like myself and his family that love him very much."
“Its in extreme poor taste to have that as a trendy topic,” she wrote, in a separate post that suggests Rose doesn’t quite get what a trending topic is. “It's totally disrespectful to make up a story like this where all human and we all make mistakes and to say someone died cuz of a mistake is ridiculous. U wouldn't want someone to say that about u.” West hasn't yet commented on the issue, although an all-caps tirade on his blog is surely in the offing in the near future.
