This has been an incredibly year for K-pop. But who would have thought that their world would collide with one of the biggest indie taste makers in the U.S. music market.
Now having finished the U.S. leg of their 'New Evolution' tour, the fiercest female K-pop group 2NE1 had stopped by the Pitchfork offices and was interviewed by James Brooks of Elite Gymnastics. The interview consisted of questions such as how they felt performing in front of U.S. audiences compared to Korean and or Japanese, how they came about their more melodic new single "I Love You" produced by Teddy Park, how long they’ve worked with fashion designer Jeremy Scott and if there’s going to be a new English single on the horizon. Funny enough when asked what they’ve been listening to lately, CL the leader of the group also stated that they've been listening to a lot of A$AP Rocky and Lana Del Rey. Very Pitchfork.
Will we keep seeing the worlds of hipsterdom and K-pop going to keep colliding with one another? Only time will tell.
