At the top of the year, we reported that Bon Iver's Justin Vernon was starting a label called Chigliak with the aim of putting out records that never saw commercial releases. In the same post, we told you that Eau Claire, Wisc. natives Amateur Love would receive the honor of the label's first release. The band's one and only full album, It's All Aquatic, will be available both digitally and on vinyl May 22. You can stream its second track, "Con/A Sewer/Cat," below.
And read what Vernon also said about Amateur Love frontman John Scott, who he called "the ambassador of my heart," as well.
His songs came from a perspective as snarly as Paul Westerberg, as enchanting as Neil Young, yet he wielded power as beguiling and unique as any songwriter I've ever heard.
With local-legend Jaime Hansen engineering, the band was caught at the rise to their peak of musical power on It's All Aquatic in 2003.
