Billboard reports that Justin Timberlake’s first album in almost seven years, The 20/20 Experience is on its way to selling over 800,000+ copies in its first week of release. This topples the 684,000 copies that his multiplatinum and Grammy Award winning FutureSex/LoveSounds debuted at.
Starting with a slew of intricate marketing and online marketing strategies, the world was slowly stroked to hunger for more Timberlake. Then in January the pop artist surprised everyone with the announcement of his first single release in seven years “Suit & Tie” featuring Jay Z. The soulful pop song was then quickly followed up with the official announcement of the new album and trailed by the release of his epic eight minute ballad “Mirrors.” In addition to the numerous appearances and performances, he also was a guest and performer on ‘SNL’ and performed all week on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ leading up to the release of his new album.
This will have Timberlake’s Experience selling the most copies this year topping Mumford & Sons Babel. And let’s not forget, this is just Volume 1 of The 20/20 Experience. We can expect Volume 2 to drop some time later this year.
