In case you forgot, amidst the SXSW deluge, Justin Bieber still pretty much runs this music business shit. Like in totality. His concert film/ode to tweendom, Never Say Never, is officially the number one concert movie of all time, surpassing Michael Jackson's This Is It, by raking in $72.2 million at the box office. That's only on top of Jackson by $100,000, but Never Say Never is still in theaters.
There is a caveat to this though: Bieber only runs the American music film business, as This Is It is the number one concert film internationally, eclipsing Bieb's $10 million international gross by something like $179 million. But still. Don't forget, amongst all the Odd Future and James Blake stories, that Bieber is still winning. [reuters]
The first sentence of this may be my favorite thing written in 2011 so far.
