In totally "duh" news, Justin Bieber's Believe is the year's biggest debut, grabbing the overall number one spot on the charts in its first week after selling 374,000 copies. It's his fourth number one album on the Billboard chart in two-and-a-half years, the most for any act in that time span.
Believe beat out Madonna's MDNA sales-wise, which sold 359,000 in its first week. It's the biggest debut week since Drake's Take Care tallied 631,000 last December.
Yet the Biebs couldn't touch the best-selling 2012 album. That honor goes to Adele's 21 which, despite the fact it had been out for an entire year, sold a staggering 730,000 copies in February following the singer's multiple Grammy nods.
While Believe is now Bieber's best-selling debut, the numbers are considerably lower than the early projections which had it selling in the 410-440,000 range. [Billboard]
