In an interview with the Orange County Register, Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas said he never really wanted to do a solo album, but the fact that his bandmates were off doing their own thing, forced him to do a solo album to avoid boredom.
"I never wanted to do it," Casablancas told The Orange County Register. "But I feel like I was kind of forced a little, to be quite honest. The band wanted to go do their own thing, and that's cool – I respect that they need to go do that. But I didn't want to sit around."
It's like Julian realized there's a fire burning about whether or not The Strokes are fighting and might break up, and he just went and threw in some kindling. This is becoming something of a soap opera, with Casablancas as the lead, telling everyone who will listen the Strokes' in-house problems.
But then again, Casablancas also says that he's ready to start working with The Strokes again in January. So, maybe all is good with those dudes. [NME]
