Ahead of the week’s Republican National Convention in Tampa, the American Action Network plunked down $500,000 for Journey to perform at a Mitt Romney fundraiser last week. Yes, you read correctly.
According to TMZ, the fundraiser took place on Thursday at a private fundraising party. Allegedly the band claims they aren’t making a political statement by accepting the offer, which basically says thanks for the money.
We know that there’s a lot of money to be made in private fundraisers, but if a washed up group like Journey can get that much for a 90-minute, imagine what someone who’s had a hit within the last 30 years could get?
That’s capitalism at its finest for you. Don’t stop believin’ folks.
