Journalist Who Reported On Tupac Murder In 2008 And Got Fired Demands Apology From L.A. Times

Here's yet another wrinkle in the James "Henchman" Rosemond story: Back in 2008, Chuck Phillips, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, was laid-off from the L.A. Times for running a story about the murders of Biggie and Tupac that was based on a bunch of documents that turned out to be doctored. But, here's the thing: Phillips reported, back then, that Tupac was shot in 1994 for refusing to take Rosemond as a manager, and was shot by an unnamed source, who turned out to be Dexter Isaac, the guy who admitted to AllHipHop earlier this month that he shot Tupac in New York in 1994.

Phillips' career was damaged by the story, as the L.A. Times ran a front-page retraction of the story after the false documents came to light. Now Phillips is demanding for a public apology from the Times, saying that now that his sources have turned out to be at least consistent, he deserves an apology. He probably has a point. Read an interview with him at the L.A. Weekly
