Blues Funeral, the upcoming release from Mark Lanegan Band, will be its seventh album, but its first in roughly eight years. The LP is due out Feb. 7, 2012, and was recorded in Hollywood at Alain Johannes’ 11AD Studios. Contributors to Funeral are, for the most part, the usual suspects/past collaborators. Johannes himself will appear alongside Greg Dulli, Jack Irons and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. No tracklist has been revealed yet, but the features–especially Homme’s–ought to please at least some QOTSA fans, who have heard little studio activity from the guitarist’s primary band outside of 2007’s Era Vulgaris and the tenth anniversary reissue of Rated R last year. Mark Lanegan Band’s Blues Funeral will come out on 4AD in digital, CD and vinyl formats. [NME]
