Sigur Ros singer Jonsi has a new solo album titled Go to promote, but he seems more concerned with the treatment of his main group by British TV shows. It turns out that the band’s ambient rock makes for excellent background music, and he believes TV networks went too far in taking the track "Hoppipolla" and using it for their own purposes.
“'Hoppipolla' has been raped on British TV. In some weird way, the national TV here in Britain doesn't have to ask permission to use songs if it's in the background of TV shows or whatever,” he said. “So they can just take it and use it and that happened a lot with 'Hoppipolla.'”
There was one show, the nature documentary Planet Earth, which used the band’s music and met with their approval, although Jonsi claims he’s not overly bothered about being raped by the Brits. “It's also one thing I've learnt to let go,” he said. “You just live for a while and you die. Nothing else matters that much.” Clearly Jonsi's glass remains eternally half-empty.

The music does work pretty well with the above video. I'm not really familiar with the viewer demographics of a show like this, but I'd imagine, too, that it's actually pretty good exposure, no?
