Not to be outdone by former bandmate Morrissey, who recently announced his forthcoming autobiography, former Smiths/current Cribs and Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr will shortly be showing the world he's not the Mayor of Simpleton either. Marr will be donning the bookish mantle of visiting professor at Salford University, where he is set to deliver a lecture entitled "Always on the Outside: Mavericks, Innovators, and Building Your Own Ark" (don't let the title scare you, we're pretty sure it's got nothing to do with McCain and Palin) on November 14. Said lecture will be delivered at the University's Maxwell Hall, which is not coincidentally the place where The Smiths played one of their last shows in 1986. Marr was given the academic green light a year ago to create a workshop for Salford, and while we're not quite sure exactly what he'll be covering, it's a safe bet that there won't be a subsection of the lecture under the heading "Morrissey: Why He's Such a Swell Guy."

Is he really a full-time guitarist with the Cribs or did he just do some guest work with them?
