Johnny Marr: Cribs 'Working on New Album'
Johnny Marr seems to have eased into his role as guitarist for The Cribs rather nicely as the legendary Smiths alum has revealed that the U.K. band is already working on the follow-up to their 2009 album, Ignore the Ignorant.
There's no word on whether Nick Launay will once again man the producer's chair on the next record, but Marr tells BBC 6 Music that The Cribs might be moving in a different direction musically. "The new stuff, particularly that [guitarist and singer] Ryan [Jarman]'s coming up with is quite different. Ryan's been playing some keyboards and he's got very inspired by it so it still sounds like the band and his lyrics are always really interesting."
Marr, who joined the band in 2008, initially met The Cribs brothers at "the Glastonbury Festival and have been jamming together for the last couple years" according to drummer Ross Jarman. [via Spinner]
