Johnny Cash's son set to produce new Loretta Lynn album

The 73-year-old country legend Loretta Lynn knows how to make the most of young(er) talent. For her first album since 2004's Van Lear Rose, which was of course overseen by Jack White of the White Stripes, Lynn is planning to work with John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny Cash and June Carter. Though he's got his work cut out for him in following up the Grammy-winning album, Cash has an extensive production resume; in addition to albums by both of his parents, he's worked on projects by everyone from Billy Joe Shaver to Marty Stuart. It's expected that the album will find veteran country hitmaker Lynn revisiting her past by recording new versions of some of her classic tunes. Rumors that a miffed White will respond by taking the helm of the next Taylor Swift album remain unconfirmed.

Oh man! I saw John Carter Cash play in the sub-sub-basement of the Knitting Factory many years ago. He was really quite terrible.
