The new album from one-time Concrete Blonde lead singer Johnette Napolitano, entitled Scarred, is now streaming at her website. It contains a couple of interesting covers. Napolitano puts in a lovely little version of Coldplay's "The Scientist," taking that already minimal composition down a few more sublime notches. Napolitano's take on Velvet Underground classic "All Tomorrow's Parties" isn't as successful, even though she does do quite the Nico impression. Just seems like that's one of those songs people should try to touch. Hell, I didn't even like Lou Reed's version of it at a festival by the same name a couple of years ago. Scarred is out May 29 on Hybrid. Check this previous post for where you can catch Napolitano the rest of this month and into June.
