John Vanderslice: new album, new label

After spending his entire career (at least as a solo artist) recording for the Barsuk label, John Vanderslice has just made a switch to Dead Oceans, who are set to release the singer/songwriter's seventh album, Romanian Names, on May 19. You'l be able to hear Vanderslice playing some of the songs from that album if you're among the fortunate souls who catch him on his acoustic tour with Mountain Goats leader John Darnielle, running through March and April. Dead Oceans promises more info on Romanian Names in the near future, but in the meantime, if you simply can't stand to wait until the Vanderslice/Darnielle tour roars through your town, you can visit Vanderslice's website, where you can hear part of a recent San Francisco show featuring some of those new tunes. And while those tour dates have already been reported here, we'll throw them up one more time for latecomers:
