John Singleton To Direct N.W.A. Biopic?

We have been hearing about an N.W.A. biopic for a minute now. Back in March 2009, we reported that such a film was in the works called Straight Outta Compton and that Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy E's widow were signed on as producers. And now, we're learning that Oscar nominee John Singleton could be signed on as the director. According to the Life Files, he is working closely with Ice Cube, who is apparently providing most of the background story/information.

Singleton released the following statement on how the movie is coming together and its likelihood:

“I can’t talk too prematurely about the stuff I’m doing because nothing’s come to fruition yet, but Cube and I are talking about doing the N.W.A. story… The script is really, really good, and so we’re just figuring it out. New Line really wants to make it.”

Oh, please, New Line let this happen. And let it happen soon.
