John Peel’s Record Collection Being Archived As Online Museum

Did anyone have a better record collection than John Peel? The name of legendary late BBC1 DJ commanded massive respect all the way until his 2004 passing. Now, to keep that name alive, BBC and the British Arts Council are working together to create The Space, an experimental digital music service that creates a virtual rendering of Peel’s home studio and record collection, which people can interact with, as well as seeing Peel’s own notes, viewing archived performances of the John Peel sessions, and seeing interviews with artists. Personally I’m hoping they can get rights to stream at least a portion of man’s massive collection, which includes roughly 25,000 LPs, 40,000 singles, and scores of CDs. [NME]
