John Mayer Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard 200, Marks Third LP To Top Charts

John Mayer hasn’t been spending all his time becoming a hologram. He actually just dropped his new and fifth album, Born and Raised, and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This marks Mayer’s third time taking the top spot, his other No. 1 albums being 2009’s Battle Studies and 2003’s Heavier Things. His 2006 album Continuum, although successful, debuted at No. 2.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Born sold roughly 219,000 copies in its first week. When the album was projected to debut atop the chart, Mayer interestingly wrote to his fans on Tumblr that the news was “just incredible on all your parts because there has been very little I’ve been able to do to promote it.” Below, listen to the LP’s title track.
