Via Billboard: On June 12th, Yep Roc records will release the latest solo album from John Doe (of X and Knitters fame), entitled A Year in the Wilderness. Remember the days when only rap albums were overflowing with guest spots? Yeah, well, those aren't these times anymore. Putting in time on A Year are Aimee Mann and Jill Sobule duetting on one track each, Kathleen Edwards lending her pipes to three tracks, and guitarists Dan Auerbach (of the Black Keys) and Greg Leisz. Dave Way, who has long served as Doe's producer, helped Doe put together the tracks in his own Way Studios in L.A. And one song, "Darling Underdog," was helped along lyrically by Doe's X bandmate Exene Cervanka. Doe will put in appearances at SXSW and Stagecoach, and is expected to tour more fully behind the album this summer. In other Doe news, the Knitters will appear live in various East Coast cities in April, and Doe says X are definitely planning on working on a new album.
