We’re totally and completely serious. John Cusack relived a quintessential moment of ‘80s pop culture history Saturday night at Peter Gabriel’s show at the Hollywood Bowl. If you’re over the age of thirty or know who John Cusack is, you probably know where this is going. The 46-year-old actor briefly appeared onstage during “In Your Eyes” to hand off a boombox to Gabriel, referencing his classic scene in Cameron Crowe’s Say Anything where his character Lloyd Dobbler hoists a boombox over his head and blasts the same song in an attempt to win back his ex-girlfriend.
Crowe tweeted about the stunt from the crowd. “Peter Gabriel and John Cusack on stage together at the Hollywood Bowl tonight,” the director said. “Won’t forget that. . .ever.”
Watch the video below, and notice how Cusack stops short of raising the boom box over his own head. Come on, Lloyd!
