Johansson overcomes mixed reviews and scans five large

The Nielsen Soundscan numbers are in, and Scarlett Johansson’s Anywhere I Lay My Head made a respectable debut, charting five thousand sales in its first week. Though Johansson’s album obviously benefited from her high profile as an actress and the weeks of hand-wringing and tomato throwing from bloggers preceding its release, it did perform slightly better than new albums by credible acts such as the Mates of State, Ting Tings, Islands, and Cool Kids. Though there will obviously be some hating with regard to the number of albums sold given Johansson’s celebrity, the fact that she was able to deliver listenable renditions of a difficult catalog is admirable for its pure audacity. That she was able to hang with “real” music acts is just the icing on the cake. Though Johansson may one day look at her music career as a trifle of youth (a la John Travolta), Scarlett the recording artist might not be going anywhere in the immediate future. [Variety]

I think people have to harsh towards her. I don't think it's bad album either.

It's at least as good as Shatner's album.

if only the songs were interactive and you could see her as you listened...

If only you could pour beer on her and just go to town on her sloppy beer drenched curves. Totally bounce her around on your lap and sh*t while she sings those awful songs.

That would be instant '10'.

I really don't have anything to say, but that last post was gross.
