It was all the way (I say all the way because the Internet makes the music world a very fickle place) back in June when 17-year-old Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$, who is widely held as hip-hop's next big thing, properly announced himself with his debut mixtape, 1999.
A fixture in the tapedeck since, the project births new visual material today for the "Fromdatomb$" cut, also featuring Chuck Strangers. The Creative Control-directed piece is as nostalgic as Joey's music, blasting trademark New York hip-hop scenes—chilling in the ball park, spitting on the subway—to our screens in that familiar fuzzy VHS-style filter.
The release of the video coincides with the announcement we've all been waiting for: A Pro Era mixtape. According to Joey, the project will drop Dec. 21. [TSC]
Fromdatomb$ is the last video I wanted to drop off "1999" because I felt like this closed out the tape perfectly. I'm locked in the studio with my pro$ putting in that twerk on this new PRO ERA tape set two drop December 21st. stay tuned.
