Joe Strummer Biopic In The Works

Joe Strummer represented an era, a movement and a genre, reaching an untimely end and leaving a lasting legacy. In other words, he’s the perfect candidate for a biopic. Today TwentyFourBit reported that Paul Viragh, best known for this year’s Ian Dury film, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, has been hired to write a script for an upcoming Strummer-centric movie, tentatively titled Joe Public. No details on a producer, director or a cast have emerged yet, but that hasn’t stopped the Internet from speculating. I think Joaquin Phoenix could do a good Strummer; he has proven himself before. Got any ideas? Let us know in the comments below. [TwentyFourBit]

I think John Cusack should play Joe. He knows the music and the man. I commented at my blog Spool Going Round http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/spool-going-round/2010/10/top-10-live-performances-from-the-david-letterman-show-at-2.html

This is a stretch but I think that Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) could pull this off.
