Joanna Newsom To Appear On The Simpsons, Wants Nicki Minaj Collaboration
Matt Groening is an established fan of Joanna Newsom—he asked her to headline his incarnation of ATP in the U.K. earlier this year, and drew the Simpson-ified picture that decorates this post to mark the occasion. But now Groening is taking his Newsom obsession to a different level, as the singer/harpist has claimed in an interview that she will appear on the Simpsons in the near future.
According to this piece in Malibu Magazine, Newsom’s forthcoming schedule includes a “future scheduled stop with her harp on The Simpsons,” which may make her the least commercial artist to ever appear in yellow on the program. But Newsom isn’t stopping there—according to the Malibu article, she is also hoping to line up a collaboration with none other than Nicki Minaj
The thought of Minaj combining with Newsom's vocals and harp is difficult to picture, but she also has some more palatable plans afoot. Other collaborators she has targeted include Robin Pecknold and Dolly Parton. “Robin rules, as a musician and a human being, and he has such awesome, beautiful people in his sphere and family," she said.
